The dustjacket has some wear at the spine ends and folds at the flap corners, some faint stains on both sides of each flap fold and at the back top edge, a few creases and tiny tears, and some tanning along some of the edges. Paramahansa Yogananda referred to the 17th-century mystic with these words in Autobiography of a Yogi: “Brother Lawrence…tells us his first glimpse of God-realization came about by viewing a tree. Nearly all human beings have seen a tree; few, alas, have thereby seen the tree’s Creator.” Yoganandaji encouraged his followers to practice the presence of God, and Self-Realization Fellowship minister Brother Premamoy gave a copy of The Practice of the Presence of God to the new postulant monks at Christmastime.
