In Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda wrote about his visit with Gandhi during his return to India in 1935-36. Gandhi’s secretary and translator of his autobiography, Mahadev Desai, welcomed Paramahansaji when he arrived at the Wardha train station. During his time with Gandhi, the Mahatma, Mahadev Desai, and a few others requested instruction in the Kriya Yoga technique of Lahiri Mahasaya. In 1925, while then Swami Yogananda was teaching and lecturing in America, Gandhi visited the guru’s school in Ranchi and “inscribed in its guest book a gracious tribute.”
