Mira Behn was the daughter of an English admiral who became a disciple of Gandhi. Paramahansa Yogananda conversed with her when he visited Gandhi during his return trip to India in 1935-36. In The Spirit’s Pilgrimage she wrote: “At this distance of time I cannot recall many of them [people who had visited Gandhi], but two remain clearly in my mind: Halide Edib Hanum, the celebrated woman writer of Turkey; and Swami Yogananda, founder of Self-Realization Fellowship of America.”

A review of The Spirit’s Pilgrimage appeared in the July-August 1961 issue of Self-Realization Magazine, and excerpts from the book in the September-October 1962 issue.
