Time magazine: August 4, 1952, Yogananda’s passing

$50.00

Time magazine, August 4, 1952. Good condition. Some creases along the edges of the front cover. Tiny chip at the bottom edge of the back cover and a tear at the top, as well as some discoloration. Musty smell. Page 57 of this issue of Time includes the story of Yogananda’s passing (mahasamadhi) at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles at a dinner honoring the ambassador of India, Binary R. Sen, on March 7, 1952. He had just completed his talk with the final words of his poem “My India”: “Wher Ganges, woods, Himalayan caves, and men dream God–I am hallowed; my body touched that sod.” The article also tells of the incorruptible nature of Yogananda’s body for nearly three weeks. A photo of this article is in Paramahansa Yogananda: In Memoriam, published by Self-Realization Fellowship.
