Many scholars date him from the second century BCE. His yoga system is called the Eightfold Path, which is described in Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi as (1) yama (moral conduct), 2) niyama (religious observances), 3) asana (right posture), 4) pranayama (life force control), 5) pratyahara (interiorization), 6) dharana (concentration), 7) dhyana (meditation), and 8) samadhi (superconsiousness).
